The direct answer
Yahoo currently says it does not require a VMC. It still applies its own BIMI requirements, including enforced DMARC, a valid SVG, bulk sending, reputation and engagement.
Why might a technically valid setup show no logo?
Yahoo’s sender FAQ makes clear that configuration is only part of the display decision. Its brand-logo programme is intended for qualifying bulk mail; a personal message sent as a quick test may not represent that use case.
Do not manufacture volume or send unwanted messages to try to trigger display. Use your normal, consent-based programme and investigate configuration and sender health together.
How should I check it?
Record the sending stream and test time, verify the public record and assets, and inspect the actual message. Yahoo suggests checking its web interface in a fresh session when investigating a recently changed record.
Keep Yahoo-specific observations separate from Gmail or other providers. Certificate requirements are not universal, and a result in one inbox does not establish the expected result in another.
